How many people? Please mention the age of any children and any other factors we may need to know such as disabilities etc. Also bear in mind the per-person cost is less the more there are in a group. When to travel? Just give us a rough idea. Please bear in mind that the cost is pretty much the same throughout the year and regardless of weekdays. You may wish to avoid either side of these key dates when it can be quite busy: 25 April, 1 July (Somme), 11 November (Ypres), Also check online for French and Belgium public holidays etc. How many nights? For either the Somme or Ypres try and earmark at least 3 nights as this will give you 2 ‘clear’ days. 4 nights is about right for either or both the Somme and Ypres. 5 nights even better. At a push 3 nights for both Somme and night Ypres is possible but a bit of a rush. Don’t forget this is your tour and we can structure everything to the time you have available! (See also ‘planning’ link below left) How many rooms? Most of the hotels we work with have double rooms (i.e. one bed for two persons) or twin rooms (two single or two double beds). Somme of our Somme hotels have triple rooms usually comprising a double and a single bed. Our Ypres hotels have triple rooms comprising a double and a roll-out bed which is more suited for younger guests. We need to know how many rooms of each type you’ll need please (as triple rooms usually harder to come by it’s helpful to back it both ways). Which battlefields? At present our Self-Drive guides cover the Somme 1916 and Ypres (‘Flanders’) battlefields. We also have a guide to the Villers Bretoneux battlefield of 1918. We may be able to help in other ways for battlefields not included in our guide such as having a personal guide (see below) and/or supplying trench maps etc to help you explore battlefields not included. Channel crossing? This option is only   of   interest   to   those   travelling   from   the UK . Just enter ‘No’ if you will already be in France or Belgium. We are pleased to offer a LeShuttle (vehicle) Channel tunnel super-quick crossing from Folkestone to Calais. This is the only route we offer at present so please feel free to make your own arrangements for services from Portsmouth, Hull etc. Personal guide? Please have a look at the ‘A Personal Guide’ option from the main menu. A personal guide can work out quite expensive, but well worth the expense (you need to book early). We only work with the best guides who will pick you up at your hotel using their transport for a whole day’s exploration (half or split days not possible). This option is invaluable if you want to follow the footsteps of a distant relative or explore a battlefield not included in our Self-Drive guides. Bear in mind you’ll need to start and finish from the same hotel (we show this cost as an option so you don’t need to decide now).
