Where to start? Carine, the owner and inspiration for the creation of Main Street Hotel wryly describes her hotel as 'a bit unusual'. . . and, thankfully, how true she is!
Main Street Hotel is best described as a 'Boutique' hotel in that it has just six rooms, each of which has been individually designed with the utmost care and attention to detail following very different, very intimate and very personalised themes.
Main Street Hotel is quite unique within Ypres. It's not like any other hotel. Main Street offers a quiet retreat for those seeking something truly homely and personalised, where attention to detail and personal service are a priority.
All rooms have very comfortable 'Nill Spring' beds of exceptional quality, large flat-screen televisions with a selection of English programs, a free mini-bar , free wi-fi, chocolate surprises and a sumptuous breakfast. An example of Carine's attention to detail is the provision of coffee making facilities in each room. At Main Street you will not find the usual dried coffee sachets but your own 'Nespresso' coffee/tea making machine and tasty 'accoutrements'.
Some of the rooms have a private terrace (Atelier and Pottery) for added tranquility.

Rare footage taken from an airship flown over Ypres by Frenchman Trolley de Prévaux in 1919 with his cameraman Lucien Lesaint. Prévaux had become an airship pilot during his service in the navy and went on to become an active resistance fighter in WWII. Prévaux and his Polish wife were arrested by the Gestapo at Marseilles on March 29 1944. He was tortured and both were executed by a firing squad at Bron in Lyon on August 19, one of the last German actions there.
