SELF-DRIVE TOUR COSTS
.

This page is intended to give you a rough ball-park idea of cost for a self-drive Somme and/or Ypres battlefield tour.  We can't show every possible combination here, such as combinations of single and double/twin rooms, mixing hotels from different price bands or for larger group sizes, so please email us with your requirements and we'll be pleased to give you an exact quotation.

Most importantly of all, the cost INCLUDES our all-important self-drive battlefield Somme and/or Ypres self-drive battlefield guide, a detailed guide which is not mass-produced but printed to order, including all directions, road maps, additional trench maps if required (subject to availability) and more. Our self-drive guide lies at the heart of your tour for without them one could end up just looking at French/Belgium farmland without appreciating what took place beneath one's very feet!.  If you have not already done so, please have a look at our main self-drive tour page for what what your tour will comprise.

How much time should you aim for?

Try and allocate three nights to visit either the Somme or Ypres battlefield as this will give you two clear days.  You'll be surprised how time just seems to fly by when exploring the battlefields.  If you wish to visit both the Somme and Ypres battlefields then four nights best split 2:2 between the Somme and Ypres.  At a real push you could see both battlefield with three nights split 2:1 between the Somme and Ypres.

Please also remember that the below cost includes all guide
material, maps, directions...and more

Please also note that combining the Hotel Basilique or Avril Williams (Somme) with either of the Ypres hotels works out a lot less than using the below chart to simply add 2 nights from one column and 2 nights from the other (for example). Best email for a quote if looking to mix the Basilique/Avril with our Ypres hotels.

EUROTUNNEL OR FERRY
CHANNEL CROSSING
(OPTIONAL)

A Channel crossing for a car (up to 7 seats) and all passengers for UK travellers visiting the battlefields of France and Belgium.

A Channel crossing is not necessary for those travelling to France or Belgium from the UK by passenger train or who are already in France or Belgium (such as arriving at CDG Airport, Paris).
In a nut-shell, if you are travelling from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA etc and you are already in France/Belgium or wherever, you will not need to consider this option.
