Les Chambres D'hotes - Albert

(Bed & Breakfast - Albert, Somme)

Some glimpses from within - entrance hall and living room

We have recently discovered this charming B&B property situated close to the centre of Albert, the main 'battlefield town' for the Somme offensive of 1916.  The below map shows how close this 'Chambre D'hotes' is to the famous Basilica (of leaning tower fame). The picture beneath the map shows the basilica back in 1916.

The French owners, Evelyne and Jacky, have renovated the interior of this property with great sensitivity as the photos to the right testify.  Visitors should note that Jacky speaks English reasonably well, whereas Evelyne speaks little English (but understands well!).

The house simply oozes 'Frenchness' (which is hardly surprising...). There are two large en-suite rooms on the first floor (the Rubis and the Pompadour), with a further three good sized rooms on the second floor sharing a single bathroom (opposite the bedrooms on the same floor). These three rooms are ideal for a large family group.
