E-Mail from Mrs Latham further to stay November 2002
Dear Mr Power,
Thank you so much for putting together such a comprehensive tour of the Somme. Your notes and route were put together with such care that it gave us time to think about what we were looking at and what had gone on form 1916 - 1918.
We both found the experience moving and could
only have respect for such courage from both sides. It left me feeling angry at
the enormous waste of life but great appreciation of the sacrifices made for the
generations that have followed.
We were very pleased to have read a couple of the books you recommended, before
we went.
Your recommendation of Avril Williams was an added bonus. She is excellent,
isn't she? The bedroom was very comfortable, cooking delicious and her
information so extensive and shared with such interest, particularly the
cellar, of course. Our fellow guests were all most interesting with their
own stories to tell.
Her son Mark, and his friend, Judith looked after
us with great care when his mother was not there. He will make a very good host
if ever he takes over the Guest House.
We have already recommended your tours to several people. Good luck in the
future.
Patricia Latham
